Humanity, by definition, is the qualities that one possesses that make a person a human being. Humanity includes compassion, compatibility, love, forgiveness, and creativity. It is what separates us from other creatures on this planet. Following the devastation of the Second World War, the United Nations came to play a role in saving succeeding generations from the scourge of war. One of its purposes was to achieve international cooperation in solving global problems by promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
