Tom Levy
Israel's Youth Delegate 2020–2022

Mr. Tom Levy served as Israel's Youth Delegate to the United Nations from 2020 to 2021. An inspiring representative, he effectively communicated the voice of Israel’s innovative generation, advocating for their concerns on the international stage and fostering collaborations with various nations. In addition to his delegate role, Tom was a therapeutic consultant in a post-hospitalized youth village, assisting at-risk teens to find their footing in life.

A proud Israeli, Tom was born and raised in the town of Zoran, near Tel Aviv. He later lived in Beer Sheva while pursuing a degree in Psychology and Political Science at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. His unique leadership style was evident early on, as he participated in the Everet scholarship for social justice and served as the lead spokesperson for an environmental NGO, advocating for urban renewal policies to prevent gentrification.

Tom also held a position on his Student Union’s directorate board, leading the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis. He served as a sergeant major in the intelligence corps of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), gaining technological and leadership skills. Following his service, he led cyber defense projects across various sectors.

After two years of global travel, during which he witnessed social injustices, Tom dedicated himself to societal change through innovative technology and education. He volunteered with Fair Planet, an agricultural development initiative in Ethiopia, and worked in the Somali desert during a civil war to empower local communities and promote economic education.

Tom is committed to harnessing the potential of Israel's youth to address the world's pressing issues, striving to position Israel as an Impact Nation and contribute towards achieving the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

“-- The world is facing its biggest crisis in decades. While COVID-19 has affected the lives of every single person around the world, it has had a uniquely devastating effect on our generation. But we are not paralyzed by this challenge – it motivates us. Youth everywhere are not waiting to be heard, we are not waiting to be given a seat at the table. We are not willing to be a lost generation --”

About the Youth Delegate Program

Have you ever dreamed to work in the UN? Are you passionate about the youth of Israel? Has the idea of representing Israel and its youth been a dream for you but seemed so out-of-reach? If you answered yes, then you are in the right place! The Youth Delegate Program, administered by IMUNA  and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Israeli Youth Authority and Mifal Ha'Pais, is a program where one Israeli youth is chosen each year in order to represent the country in the United Nation's headquarters in New York and here in Israel. The program includes young people from all around the globe, who are passionate and eager regarding international relations. The delegates discuss, have meetings, and represent their nation and its youth with the aim of advocating for social justice.
